Endocrinology Residency Programme

Resident's Talk

“There is really a bit of endocrinology in most clinical problems… It’s a unique application of biochemistry to practical clinical scenarios!”

Dr Yeo Pei Shan
Senior Resident

Introduction Message

Endocrinology is a specialty that focuses on the glands and tissues that produce hormones. It also deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases involving the body's metabolism, respiration, growth, reproduction, sensory perception, and movement. This programme trains the resident to diagnose and treat a full spectrum of disorders including adrenal, bone, pancreatic, pituitary, and thyroid diseases.

The NHG Endocrinology Residency Programme offers a 3-year training programme that provides an optimal environment for a high level of clinical training to facilitate the mastery of endocrinology.  The training sites see a wide range of common and rare endocrine cases both in the inpatient and outpatient settings, and the resident will learn to manage endocrine emergencies confidently under the guidance of the faculty. He/she will be guided on how to conduct sophisticated dynamic tests, as well as helm multidisciplinary rounds for complex cases.

Our programme boasts a strong teaching culture, and the faculty members' commitment to teaching well prepares the resident for an independent career in clinical and academic endocrinology.
