Hand Surgery is a specialty that involves the management and treatment of traumatic injuries to the hand and the entire upper extremity that contributes to the function of the hand. This programme trains the resident to restore the strength, function, and flexibility of patients' wrists and fingers.
The NHG Hand Surgery Residency Programme is a 4-year training programme that offers the resident a well-rounded and comprehensive training by renowned hand surgeons in our faculty. Apart from learning how to operate on hand traumas and congenital hand deformities, the resident will also learn how to perform flap surgeries. This ensures they are well-equipped to assist our Orthopaedic colleagues with soft tissue management of the upper and lower limbs.
The resident will rotate through other elective postings including the Plastic Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery departments so as to gain more exposure during training. He/she will also attend workshops on tendon repair, wrist and distal radius, and arthroplasty.
