NHG Urology Residency Programme

Resident's Talk

"I chose Urology because it gives me the opportunity to apply medical knowledge, surgical skills, and practical research to help our patients"

Dr Arianto Yuwono
Senior Resident

Curriculum

Faculty members will regularly teach the resident through structured hands-on training. He/she will gain knowledge in clinical competency, communication, research, and quality improvement. Besides this, our department also constantly creates opportunities for the resident to engage in research, presentation at conferences, and publications in journals.

To help the resident with his/her education, our consolidated library is stocked with key Urology journals, reference books, and DVDs. He/She will be assessed at least twice a year and receive constructive feedback in order to overcome his/her shortcomings.

Rotations

The main training sites include Tan Tock Seng (TTSH) and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH). The resident will also rotate to National University Hospital for Urology transplant exposure. Each posting is 6 months with the exception of NUH, which is 2 months. The resident will then assume the role of a Senior Resident to the following departments:

  • TTSH Urology
  • TTSH General Surgery
  • KTPH Urology
  • NUH Urology
