Teaching Opportunities
Residents engage in extensive teaching activities, mentoring medical students from Yong Loo Lin and Lee Kong Chian Schools of Medicine, as well as nurses, paramedics, and junior residents. Many residents pursue advanced educational training and have earned teaching excellence awards, reflecting our programme’s commitment to fostering academic leadership.
Research Opportunities
Emergency Medicine offers significant scope for research and academic advancement. Many of our faculty and residents have published their work in prestigious journals and presented at renowned international conferences. Each resident is paired with experienced mentors to guide their research endeavours, fostering contributions to the field’s evidence base.
Professional Development
Upon completing the programme, residents qualify as Emergency Medicine Specialists, ready to meet the growing demand for consultant Emergency Physicians in Singapore. With rising patient volumes and increasingly complex cases, opportunities abound in subspecialties such as trauma, toxicology, pre-hospital care, disaster medicine, and critical care. Emerging fields, including extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation, observation medicine, and point-of-care ultrasound, present new challenges and avenues for professional growth.
Many Emergency Physicians also choose to develop their careers outside the clinical field in domains such as healthcare administration, medical education, and academic research. The broad-based nature of Emergency Medicine training provides a strong foundation for development in these areas.
