The Institute of Humanistic Medicine (HuME)
Transforming healthcare with humanistic practice
Our StoryIn the age of scientific triumph and increasing use of technology, why is humanistic medicine still important? The Institute of Humanistic Medicine -- HuMe -- was set up in January 2025 with the intention to integrate humanistic values into clinical practice, empower healthcare professionals to care for themselves and their patients, and ensure that healthcare remains compassionate, patient-centred and ethically sound. We do this through education activities, engagement events with learners, educators and practitioners in healthcare, and through research collaborations between academic centres, clinicians and patient groups.
