“The truth is that medicine is made of people with the greatest intention, the noblest, the kindest and the most intelligent. The truth is also that these same people fail our patients from time to time. It is on the shoulders of giants like Professor Lim Tock Han and Associate Professor Nicholas Chew that we saw that health professions education could be dramatically different.
NHG education has walked this journey for the last 10 years embracing the notion that it is possible that we inspire professionals, imagine tomorrow and re-invent healthcare so that our clinicians can live up to aspirations to do no harm, to heal often and care always.
What was once possible, is now expected of NHG Education. The journey ahead is just as perilous and the stakes are even higher. Our population is older, the science comes at us faster and societies are more complex and more dynamic.
In the next few years, NHG Education will focus on research which informs us on the best practice of educating healthcare professionals for their current and their future roles. The way forward will need us to leverage on partnerships between family groups, with academia, industry and most importantly partnerships with our patients. Our patients need education and that will be a key paradigm shift for us. I invite all to join us on the road ahead. Tomorrow depends on the people who are educated today.”
