Through a combination of educational and clinical activities, these essential competencies are taught in a manner designed to ease the PGY1 doctor's progression from a student to a practising doctor.
In TTSH, the PGY1 may rotate through the following disciplines:
- General Medicine
- General Surgery
- Orthopaedic Surgery
During your PGY1 training, you will enhance your clinical experience through a wide range of specialties and subspecialties. You will also connect with committed faculty members who will provide adequate supervision and guidance for your professional career.
Rotations

This comprehensive year will fulfill both the Post-Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) licensing requirements set by the Singapore Medical Council and MOH.
PGY1's Scholarly Activities
The PGY1 is a period of adjustment and flux as the medical graduate transitions from undergraduate medical education to full medical registration. PGY1 doctors who are interested in participating in research and scholarly activities may approach the Programme Director and faculty members, who will assist to connect you with the appropriate parties.
