Introduction Message
A Urologist has specialised knowledge and skills to manage diseases of the male and female urinary tract and the male reproductive organs. This programme trains the resident to become an expert in diagnosing and treating all patients with urological disorders.
The NHG Urology Residency Programme is a 4-year programme that follows on after the 2-year Surgery-in-General Residency Programme. Although Urology is widely classified as a surgical specialty, a urologist requires knowledge of other specialties including gynaecology, internal medicine, and paediatrics to manage a variety of clinical problems.
The resident will undergo training at our key training sites, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH). Being two of the largest units in Singapore, the Urology departments at TTSH and KTPH provide the resident ample learning opportunity through a variety of urological conditions. He/she will receive close supervision and guidance from our dedicated faculty members, who are competent surgeons committed to training the future generation of Urologists.
At the end of the programme, the resident will be eligible for the Urology Exit Examination. With that qualification, the resident will then be accepted into the Specialist Register as a qualified Urologist.
