Resident's Talk

“Cardiology offers great excitement and huge satisfaction in managing patients.”

Introduction Message

A clinical Cardiologist specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, management, and rehabilitation of patients with diseases of the cardiovascular system. Life as a Cardiologist is fast-paced, exhilarating, and challenging; there will never be a dull moment in a career in Cardiology.

The NHG Cardiology Residency Programme positions the resident at the cutting-edge of cardiovascular research activity. This means that he/she will not have to make the difficult decision of choosing between a bedside clinical career and a procedure-based discipline. Instead, the resident will have the opportunity to apply contemporary evidence-based medicine to daily clinical practice. These include Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) for acute coronary syndromes and Pacemaker implantations for bradyarrhythmias that can be used to save lives instantaneously.

With the aim to groom all residents into international leaders in various cardiology subspecialties, our programme offers each resident a strong foundation in general cardiology as well as opportunities to develop in one or more specific areas of clinical competency. The resident can also expect to receive a holistic training experience from expert core clinical faculty members that will prepare him/her for a career as a pioneer in academic and clinical Cardiology.
