NHG Psychiatry Residency Programme

Resident's Talk

"The heart, body and mind of the medical practice may be embodied by its various medical and surgical disciplines, but it is in Psychiatry that the soul, and the humanity, of the practice is found. Of this I am convinced."

Dr Arvind Rajagopalan
Chief Resident

What examinations do I have to take to become a specialist in psychiatry?

There will be continuous formative evaluations throughout your five years of residency. In addition, to be registered with the Specialist Accreditation Board (SAB) as a specialist in Psychiatry, you will have to pass either the Master of Medicine in Psychiatry or Member of the Royal College Psychiatry Examinations during your training, followed by the Psychiatry Exit Examinations at the end of your training.

Am I eligible for the programme and how do I apply?

  • As applications are centrally managed by MOHH, please refer to this website for more details.
  • Our residency positions are only eligible for those who are registered and employed to practise in Singapore. For the list of the degrees and qualifications that are recognised by the Singapore Medical Council and registrable to work in Singapore, please refer to its website.
